Mikkeline was first introduced to the ancient art of yoga over 13 years ago on a journey through India, the motherland of yoga. However, it was not until a chain of unexpected challenging, life altering events that led to a deeper exploration of the practice. This eventually set the seed of intention and desire to share the benefits of this healing practice with others. She has been a practitioner, student and teacher for the past 8 years and is experienced in Hatha, Vinyasa, Purna, Yin/Yang and Restorative Yin Yoga with special interests in Pranayama and Nada (sound) Yoga.
Mikkeline’s approach to teaching yoga can be described as nurturing and therapeutic whilst creating an environment where students feel held in a sacred and safe space. She draws upon inspiration from her Māori ancestral heritage and other indigenous cultural practices, from nature itself and the many forms of movement and sound. We are all unique and as such there can be no 'one size fits all' in life or in our yoga practice. Her intention is to help people become more self-aware so they may awaken to their own truth and feel more connected to the world around them. This is the intention and gift of yoga.
She is based in the beautiful Byron Shire and teaches regular weekly classes, on retreats and offers private sessions. She also works at The Crystal Castle. You can find her teaching Yin Yoga every Tuesday 5:30pm - 7pm.
